The Outlook Report Message add-in can be added to the Outlook desktop app and Outlook for the web. It allows you to flag messages as junk, phishing, or not junk and optionally send a copy of the message to Microsoft to improve their Office 365 spam filtering services.

While many spam and phishing emails are delivered to your junk folder, attackers are continuously getting smarter so every now and again one may land in your inbox. Or, if you find a legitimate email you were expecting to receive in your junk folder, you can mark it as not junk to move it to your inbox. The Report message tool gives you the ability to handle malicious and safe emails without even having to log a support ticket.

While we encourage you to use the Report Message tool in Outlook as much as possible, it's always best to safe than sorry. If you are unsure if an email is legitimate, please check with your companies IT department or Lucidity Support first. Make sure you get the go ahead from them before clicking on any links in the email, opening attachments or replying.

The Report Message button appears in the Outlook ribbon under the Home tab. If you don't see there, you can follow these instructions to add it to Outlook

When you select the Report Message button, you will have 4 options to choose from:

Junk: Junk Emails are also known as spam, they are unsolicited emails often advertising products or services you don't want or use. If you report the message as junk it will be moved to your junk folder. You'll get a message asking whether you'd like to send a copy of the message to Microsoft. We recommend this as it helps Microsoft improve its spam filtering technology.

Phishing: A phishing email is designed to trick you into disclosing personal information such as bank numbers or passwords. Phishing emails are very high risk as they often appear very legitimate and are hard to identify, especially because they often look like they are sent from a legitimate company. If an email looks like it could be a phishing attempt, report the email as phishing and do not open anything from the email.

Remember to never provide personal information over email such as passwords, banking details, personal information or documents like a drivers license or passport, or credit card information.

Not Junk: If a legitimate email has been incorrectly delivered to your junk folder, you can report it as not junk. You'll know if an email is real if it is someone you are regularly in contact with or an email, you were expecting to receive, and the nature of the email is appropriate and safe (doesn't contain any unusual content - suspicious attachments or links etc).

Options: The options button allows you to select your preferences for the report message add-in.

If you click the options button, you'll see the below menu:
